The Historic Tren dels Llacs, with a locomotive and period cars from the 60s, resumes service every Saturday from August 19 to October 21
The Cremallera and the Montserrat Funiculars, the Cremallera de Núria Train and the Tren del Ciment also remain open with the new autumn timetables
This end of summer and beginning of autumn, the tourist offer that Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat brings together under the umbrella of the Turistren brand, offers a unique opportunity to discover the beauty of the Catalan landscapes on board its tourist trains and panoramic railways.
El tren dels Llacs is one of the most outstanding routes among Turistren's proposals. On board this train, passengers enter nature from the plain of Lleida to Pobla de Segur. This unforgettable experience offers spectacular views of changes in topography and vegetation along the way. It passes through four lakes, 40 tunnels and 75 bridges in a route of 89 kilometers. The Tren dels Llacs offers two options to make this trip: the Historic Train and the Panoramic Train. The Historic Train, with a locomotive and period cars from the 60s, resumes service every Saturday from August 19 to October 21. The Panoramic Train will run for the last time on Saturday, October 28.
With the Cremallera and the Montserrat Funiculars, located less than an hour from Barcelona, users reach the site of the Abbey of Montserrat Monastery and it is the Sant Joan Funicular with which they can access the Natural Park of the Montserrat mountain. These services will continue with three circulations per hour until after September 11. From October 1, there will be three circulations per hour until 3pm and three circulations per hour at weekends until the end of November. In the months of October and November, during the week there will be a circulation of two trains per hour.
The Tren del Ciment, located in the Berguedà region, makes a journey of 3.5 km in 20 minutes, offering travelers impressive views of landscapes of great value at the gates of the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park. This train runs every day until September 3. After this date, it will do so on weekends and holidays until the first weekend of November.
Another essential route is the Cremallera de Núria, with 92 years of history. This 12.5 km crossing overcomes a 1,000 m difference in level in just 40 minutes, giving travelers a unique experience in the middle of a spectacular landscape of the Eastern Pyrenees. The Cremallera de Núria will continue to offer 14 circulations per day until September 3, and then, nine circulations during the week and 14 on weekends and holidays until the end of October.
FGC Turisme's trains and funiculars offer local escapes through public transport that are, in themselves, a double experience that includes the journey itself in a unique form of transport as well as the destination they arrive at, with connotations of nature, culture and sustainability.
